This is the weather where people will walk a long way for the nice safe slope in our park! Here’s some of our pics of this year’s snow days in our park!
And some more scenic pics:
We had a fantastic afternoon, and even the sun came out to play!
Thanks to everyone who came and made it such a good day!
There’s a special mention for the Baker Girls who really contributed to the fun, and Mick whose calling meant that all the dances were do-able!
We painted little bird boxes to go home, and hunted all over the field to see what bugs we could find!
Our events for 2017 will include our third Big Lunch in June, our third ‘Bug Day’ in July, a brand new summer picnic event in August and our second Havelock Hoedown. Now all we need is for the weather to be on our side in 2017 – we didn’t mind the rain really, but we have put in an early order for sunshine on these dates in 2017.
Our locals were not put off by the weather, we know how to have fun here, whether it rains or not!
The first Havelock Hoedown will be held on Havelock Rec on Saturday 10th September, from 12 – 4pm.
Just 3 days to go to the Havelock Hoedown! We have organised lots of fabulous things for you to make this a great fun family event. Here’s what you can expect:
– Music and dancing with our very own line dancing caller
– Bucking bronco
– Bouncy castle
– Western themed games with big prizes (ok they’re small prizes but still fun)
– Fairground rides for the kids
– Raffle – guess the weight of the cake to win it
What you can eat:
– Cake stall (see above) – maybe don’t start with cake
– Hog Roast
– Candy floss
– Ice cream
And there will also be a selection of craft stalls selling things like chilli jam, bunting and teepees.
Many thanks to all our confirmed sponsors. Our Gold sponsors are George Proctor, Bromley Car Audio, Homesdale Motors, Barbershop and The Hayes Local. Our Silver sponsors are Burns Fireplaces and Empressed. You can find out more about all these lovely local companies who are supporting YOUR community below. Our next event on September 10th is the Havelock Hoedown. It’s set to be our biggest event to date, and we’re really looking forward to it. We are looking for local businesses to sponsor the event and have two great packages to choose from. Deadline is 1st August to take advantage of all benefits!
There was a great turnout for our Bug Hunting and Birdbox Painting day on a very warm but windy Saturday 9th July.Even the sun turned up for a while.
Thanks to everyone who came and participated! We sold out of birdboxes in record time and we now have 30 Havelock Hunters in our midst. Lots of people took part in the Scavenger Hunt, and there were some excellent drawings and crafts. Thanks to Sandy and Judy who helped us to identify lots of minibeasts and to Friends of the Earth who had a stall.
